On April 16, 2011 I traveled to La Porte, Texas with my friend Joni to witness the re-enactment of the Battle of San Jacinto. This was an awesome day to celebrate Texas, a state I am proud to reside in. :)
Not only is it a celebration that affects Texas, but it was also a battle that led to more land in the United States including the states of New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah, and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and Oklahoma.With the element of surprise on the Texian army side they were able to win the battle in 18 minutes despite their few numbers.
